I get asked that a lot. So, on this the 9th month of our move to Memphis, I shall answer!
Have you ever moved in with somebody you’ve never lived with and blended two families of two to make one family of four — and a dog? Have you ever done that while buying a new house and moving twice in two months? And opening a business?
No? Well, don’t try this at home, folks, because let me tell you. You will believe that you have made the worst mistake ever and you will want to go “home”. But then your Mom will tell you that you ARE home, and that is where you have to stay. And then you’ll poke your lips out but you’ll know she’s right and your Daddy can’t save you. So, everybody has to decide that everybody is “home.” For good. And then everybody will decide to act like it.
And then your son will start telling you all about his day at school with a smile on his face. And then you’ll start to make friends. And then your husband will look forward to coming home because you’re there. And there will be soccer games. And there will be days you can hang out at home with your husband when he’s off work. And there will be family movie nights. And there will be the nights you all just wanna go out to dinner. And there will be days when you can’t wait to leave work and go “home.” Because you’re home now.
And you love it.
Sounds like you guys are adjusting well. What about Memphis itself? Do you like the city?
Hmm. To me, it’s kinda just like being anywhere. There’s more to do than in Jackson — but me getting off the couch and doing it? Nah…. I do really like working downtown, though.
Ha! I understand. There’s no place like home….especially on the couch.

This is great! Have you been able to explore some of Memphis like a tourist would? What about the Delta chapter? Did you like it?
I haven’t explored much at all, but my cousins are coming this summer and Graceland is on the agenda! The Delta Chapter I went to is MUCH smaller than the Memphis Chapter. In fact, it’s in West Memphis, Arkansas (right across the bridge). But, I did enjoy it. Looks like I’m back in the Delta business! :)
I’m sure you’ll see my big sis if you haven’t already. She’s your soror.
